Spa Chemistry Facts

Sanitizers & Water Balance

Spa Water Test Strips: Test bromine or chlorine levels as well as pH and total alkalinity.

Brominating Tablets: Slow dissolve bromine tablets disinfect and sanitize water via a feeder or floater dispenser.

Sodium Bromide: Establish an immediate bromine reserve for spas and hot tubs. Use 2 ounces when filling the spa.

Renew: Non-chlorine shock treatment that eliminates odors and reduces irritating contaminants for fresh, clear water.

PH Balance: A breakthrough in water technology. Unique formulation locks-in pH levels between 7.2 and 7.8 eliminating drift and continuous water testing and adjustment. Use after filling the tub, adjust the pH quickly and easily. It will properly adjust and hold the pH for up to three months.

OZ: Specifically designed for ozonator spas, these quick dissolve; chlorine-free shock tablets rid spas of oils, lotions and organic contaminants with unique effervescent water clearing action.

Spa Up: Granular product gently adjusts water pH and alkalinity upward.

Spa Down: Granular product adjusts water pH and alkalinity down.

Spa Water Treatment

Spa Bright & Clear: Developed specifically for hot water treatment, unique polymer action neutralizes and removes dirt, soap, oily films and suspended particles for clean, fresh water.

Spa Defender: Proprietary formula prevents and inhibits calcium stain and scale build-up for protection of spa surfaces, heater and other equipment.

Spa Foam Down: Effective blend of non-oil, anti-foaming agents stops and retards foaming in any type of sanitized spa.

Spa Metal Gon: Prevents metal staining of spa surfaces by sequestering iron, copper and other minerals.

Spa Scum Gon: Natural enzyme formulation reduces spa maintenance by breaking down oils, lotions and organics that can cause odors, scum lines, and cloudy water. 100% biodegradable and safe for the environment.

Surface & Equipment Maintenance

Spa Fast Gloss: Reactive silicone protects, waterproofs and seals spa finish to prevent fading and oxidation. Use every time you drain and clean the tub.

Filter Clean: Highly concentrated solution cleans dirt, oil, and grease and soap film from both cartridge and diatomaceous earth filters.

Leak Seal: Seals minor leaks in spa surfaces and plumbing.

Shocking: Why and When

With regular use of your spa there will be an increased amount of non-filterable wastes such as perspiration, oils and organics that can accumulate. As these contaminants enter the water they will react with the sanitizer (chlorine or Bromine) to form either Chloramines or Bromamines.

Chloramines and Bromamines are the most common source of spa water problems such as: eye and skin irritation, foul odors and dull, cloudy water.

Shocking or super-chlorinating the water will “burn out” the Chloramines or Bromamines. This can be accomplished by either the addition of Chlorinating Granules or Renew, a non-chlorine shock treatment. For ozone systems, OZ tablets can be used.

Your spa should be shocked every 7 to 10 days, depending upon the level of spa use, or whenever there has been increased bather activity.
